1994-2012 Six Ten Sabre Review, and Photo Gallery

1994-2012 Six Ten Sabre

1994-2012 Six Ten Sabre  Review:
There’s something about doing business with a small manufacturer that many find very appealing. It could be the careful attention the staff pays to the customer or the little competition that exists to rival the products, but the either way, the business is always there for the small fish in a big pond that has big dreams. Our latest catch is Six Ten Coach Builders.

Six Ten Coachbuilders began work in the 1990s when Jim Crabtree, General Manager, bought the original molds and design rights for the Spirit model. The company still builds a few units of the Spirit a year, but they have spent most of their time building Cobras. Their mission is to build “exclusive, high quality, mass-appealing, neo-classic styled cars and kit cars that provide the feeling of proud ownership at good value.”
Their most recent build is the new Six Ten Sabre built off of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible (from 1994 to 2012), even though it’s hard to tell from looking at the vehicle.

It is inspired by the Morgan and MG Classis design with a clear focus in adding luxury and style befitting of a vehicle worth much more than the $39,000 to $129,000 price tag trailing behind the Sabre. With the help of Ford, who donated all of the major auto parts, Six Ten has created a vehicle that can play its part perfectly in the automotive world. It’s kind of like having the beauty of a ring girl while delivering the punch of the boxer.

Competition

Six Ten has created a unique model for the market and are bold enough to say that it can compete against models like the 2011 Morgan Aero Super Sport. The Morgan Aero is powered by a 4.8L delivering 367 HP and 370 lb-ft torque. This allows the Morgan to get from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. A Six Ten Sabre built off a 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 will get the customer a 5.4L engine delivering 540 HP and 512 of torque with a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds. That sounds great all by itself, but it gets better. The Sabre will only cost anywhere from $39,000-$129,00 whereas the Aero starts off at $185,000. That little fact sweetens the pot that much more.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior of the Sabre doesn’t exactly melt into the background with its swooping lines and voluptuous fenders. It is built three feet shorter than the Six Ten Spirit and adds intricately shaped back lights and a hint of sportiness that aid in bringing out the best in the vehicle. Exterior color options are the final touch and the choices are endless.

Functionality isn’t lost in the sea of luxury as the Sabre comes equipped with driver and passenger air bags, air conditioning, cruise control, 20 inch chrome wheels, a dual exhaust, a fully functional backseat, and all-power mechanisms such as top, seat, windows, mirrors, locks, brakes, and steering. A wooden dash package is also available for that extra touch of class.

Engine

The Six Ten Sabre is powered by a Ford V8 fuel injected engine producing anywhere from 215 HP to 550 HP and comes equipped with an automatic overdrive. This transformation doesn’t leave out the environmental aspect as the Sabre has been finished to meet all the emission requirements in all US states.

Pricing

The Six Ten Sabre is now available at a starting price of $39,000. That price can shoot up from there to $129,000, and everything in between, depending on the options chosen for the vehicle. Once ordered, the Sabre can take anywhere from six to eight weeks for delivery. Another bonus for the Sabre is that, since Ford donated all of the major auto parts, all Sabre models can be serviced at any Ford dealership.

If you already have your own donor car, the Sabre is also available in kit form for the bargain price of $10,900. The kit takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks for delivery.
